Wasdale Valley Holiday Cottage
Converted from the old School on a quiet access only lane, Betty’s Cottage is surrounded by open farmland with views of the Wasdale Valley. At the end of this peaceful lane is Irton Church. In the centre of the graveyard is a 9th Century cross, one of the oldest relics in Cumbria (after the mountains!).
This self-catering cottage for two is a perfect little hideaway, ideal for those seeking a relaxing ‘get away from it all’ holiday. There is a well-equipped kitchen and comfortable sitting room for relaxing at home. Footpaths head out across the fields, as far as the coast, Muncaster Fell and Miterdale Forest. The hosts can provide breakfast for guests next door at the Bed and Breakfast at an extra charge and by prior arrangement.
Irton Hall and the Bridge Inn at Santon Bridge both offer guests of Betty’s Cottage a 10% discount when dining, which are both a pleasant twenty minute stroll across the fields or a five minute drive away. The Woodlands Tearooms and Santon Bridge Gift shop is worth a visit and only a 5 minute drive and Gosforth village is close by offering a village store, bakery and an interesting pottery workshop where you can make your own pot or buy a local design. The local Esso station has a SPAR store where you can purchase provisions including Wines and Beers.
